Informed and strong: Turning students into Fact-checkin

On May 19-21, the Freedom of Information Center held an online course "Fact-checking for Students" for students of Yerevan universities within the framework of the "Informed and Strong Youth" program.

The three-day training aimed to impart basic knowledge about fact-checking to young people who are active consumers and disseminators of information flows, to present the main tools and platforms for fact-finding, and to promote their application in professional and everyday life.

Students of Yerevan universities had the opportunity to take part in the first stage of the course. The training was conducted by a fact-checking specialist, media researcher Harutyun Tsatryan and Editor-in-Chief of the Fact Investigation Platform ( Ani Grigoryan.

At the beginning of the course, the participants were greeted by the coordinator of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung projects in Armenia Liana Badalyan and FOICA President Shushan Doydoyan. Summarizing the main directions of FEF activities, Ms. Badalyan noted that the Foundation strongly supports knowledge and supports such non-formal educational initiatives.

The "Informed and Strong Youth" program is the first collaboration between FES and FOICA. FOICA President Shushan Doydoyan, highlighting the role of students of different professions in developing fact-checking skills, expressed hope that this initiative will continue, and in addition to online courses, face-to-face meetings will be held, which will provide more opportunities for effective testing and knowledge acquisition.
